I started my Property career during the worst market crash in 20 years! Late 1988 was the worst, or possibly best, time to get into house sales and the next few years would test the metal of the best of them. Interest rates soared to 15%, repossessions were at an all-time high. It should’ve been a nightmare time, but I flourished and was running my own branch within a year!
In 1992 two of my bosses left to start their own agency, Lords Estate Agents. I joined them in 1993 to help launch their letting department. In 10 years we grew the business becoming the number 1 letting agent in Kingston.
After a brief stint with another local agent, in 2003 I joined the biggest corporate agency in the country. I joined as an Area Manager, initially looking after 5 offices and then having another 5 offices added when that agency bought out another agency. After 3 years I realised that the corporate life was not for me and joined a small independent agency in Surbiton.
I never looked back from there. Having successfully taken that company as far as I could I returned to my ‘work’ home of Kingston with my current independent employer and after quadrupling their turnover I am now looking forward to building a business that will transform the lettings business.
